Gujarat Board Intensifies CCTV Monitoring to Ensure Exam Integrity
The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has launched a rigorous scrutiny initiative, commencing on Friday, to review CCTV footage from the ongoing Classes 10 and 12 board examinations. This proactive measure aims to uphold academic honesty and deter malpractice during the critical testing period.
Expanded Staff Deployment Across Ahmedabad Centres
In Ahmedabad, the board has established four dedicated centres for the verification process, with more than 50 staff members currently engaged in the task. Officials have indicated that this number will be progressively increased as the examinations advance and the volume of footage accumulates. It is anticipated that up to 100 personnel may be assigned across these centres to ensure efficient and thorough completion of the review.
Of the four centres, two are situated within Ahmedabad city, while the remaining two are located in rural areas. During the meticulous review process, any suspicious incidents identified will be isolated and promptly forwarded to the board for further investigation. Based on the findings, copy cases will be formally registered against students found involved in any form of malpractice.
Comprehensive CCTV Coverage and Review Procedures
According to board officials, only schools equipped with functional CCTV facilities were designated as examination centres this year. All classrooms are recorded throughout the duration of the exams. Subsequently, two copies of the footage are prepared on CDs and dispatched to district-level authorities for detailed scrutiny.
In Ahmedabad city, the review of Class 10 footage is being conducted at Solaris Public School in Bhuyangdev, while Class 12 footage, covering both general and science streams, is being examined at Sant Kabir High School in Navrangpura. Initially, each of these centres was staffed with 15 members, with plans to potentially increase this number to 25 per centre if the workload demands.
In rural Ahmedabad, the scrutiny of Class 10 footage is taking place at KR Raval School in Ranip, and Class 12 footage at SS Divine School in Sola. More than 40 staff members are slated to be deployed across these rural centres to manage the review process effectively.
Strict Actions Against Irregularities
Authorities have emphasized that strict disciplinary action will be taken in cases of copying, mass copying, or any other irregularities detected during the footage review. This initiative underscores the board's commitment to maintaining the credibility and fairness of the examination system, ensuring that all students are assessed under equitable conditions.
