Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Gurujang, Khurda district, will reopen its doors on Wednesday. However, only Class XII students can return to the campus. The school closed for a full week after a sudden jaundice outbreak affected several students.
Water Samples Sent for Urgent Testing
School principal Kabita Kar confirmed that authorities sent water samples from thirteen different points on the campus for examination. These samples went to the CDMO office. Another five samples went to WATCO for further analysis.
"We are waiting for the test reports," Kar stated. "They should arrive on Wednesday." The school will decide about reopening for other grades only after receiving these crucial water quality reports.
Why Only Class XII Students?
The decision to recall Class XII students stems from their upcoming examinations. "Their board exams start on Thursday," Principal Kar explained. "We asked them to rejoin to minimize academic disruption."
The school has implemented strict safety measures. Workers thoroughly sanitized the entire campus. School management claims they have put all necessary protocols in place to protect returning students.
Current Health Status
No new jaundice cases have emerged recently. All previously affected students are now recovering well. The situation appears stable, but authorities remain cautious.
The school's partial reopening marks a careful, phased approach. Officials prioritize student health while acknowledging academic pressures for senior students. The community watches closely for the water test results that will determine the next steps.
