Kerala Board Exams 2024: Comprehensive Preparations Finalized for SSLC and Higher Secondary Examinations
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala General Education Department has completed all necessary arrangements for the upcoming SSLC (Secondary School Leaving Certificate) and higher secondary examinations, which are scheduled to commence on March 5, 2024. With meticulous planning and logistical coordination, the state is set to conduct these crucial academic assessments smoothly across thousands of centers.
Massive Student Participation and Exam Center Details
A total of 4,17,497 students have registered for the SSLC examination this year. These candidates will appear for their tests across 3,031 examination centers established throughout Kerala. Additionally, special arrangements have been made for students residing outside the state:
- Gulf Region: 633 students registered across seven dedicated examination centers.
- Lakshadweep: 386 students registered for the SSLC examination.
Complete Distribution of Examination Materials
General Education Minister V. Sivankutty announced on Monday that the distribution of answer sheets required for SSLC, vocational higher secondary, and higher secondary examinations has been successfully completed. These materials have reached schools under all 41 district education offices across Kerala.
The preparation, printing, and distribution of question papers for the SSLC 2024 examination have been finalized, with papers securely delivered to the district education offices. Following careful sorting procedures, all question papers have been transferred to secure lockers in banks and treasuries to ensure absolute confidentiality and prevent any potential leaks.
Staff Appointments and Invigilation Arrangements
The appointment of chief superintendents and deputy chief superintendents for the SSLC examination has been finalized. Minister Sivankutty confirmed that approximately 26,000 teachers will be required to serve as invigilators during the SSLC examinations, ensuring proper supervision and maintaining examination integrity.
Evaluation Process and Result Timeline
For the evaluation of answer sheets, applications have been received for appointing about 950 additional chief examiners and 9,000 examiners across 72 evaluation camps. Appointment orders will be issued to these teachers during the second week of March.
The evaluation camps are scheduled to begin on April 7, 2024 and conclude on April 28, 2024. Based on this timeline, SSLC examination results are expected to be announced by the third week of May 2024.
Higher Secondary Examination Details
The first-year higher secondary and vocational higher secondary examinations will commence on March 5, 2024, followed by the second-year examinations starting on March 6, 2024.
Current registration statistics reveal significant participation:
- First-year exams: 4,11,025 students registered
- Improvement exams: 3,41,222 students registered
- Second-year exams: 4,52,437 students registered
A total of 1,984 examination centers have been designated for the first and second-year higher secondary exams, with distribution as follows:
- Kerala: 1,966 centers
- Gulf Region: 7 centers
- Lakshadweep: 9 centers
- Mahe: 2 centers
Approximately 29,000 teachers will be required as invigilators for the higher secondary examinations, ensuring comprehensive supervision across all centers.
