Mysuru district schools are gearing up to welcome over four lakh students for the academic year 2026-27. The Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) of Mysuru district, D Uday Kumar, informed Deccan Herald that preparations are well underway, with a significant portion of essential supplies already received from the State Government.
Textbook and Uniform Distribution Progress
According to DDPI Uday Kumar, the district has received approximately 80 per cent of the required textbooks for the upcoming academic year. Additionally, about 40 per cent of the uniforms, which consist of two sets per student, have been delivered. The remaining textbooks and uniforms are expected to arrive in the coming weeks, ensuring that all students are equipped before the start of the school term.
The distribution process is being coordinated at the block level to ensure efficient delivery to individual schools. School authorities have been instructed to verify the quality and quantity of the received materials and report any discrepancies immediately.
Enrollment and Infrastructure Updates
With an anticipated enrollment of over four lakh students across government and aided schools in the district, the education department is focusing on ensuring adequate infrastructure, including classrooms, furniture, and sanitation facilities. Several schools have undergone minor repairs and renovations during the summer break to accommodate the expected influx.
Teachers and staff are also being trained on the new curriculum and teaching methodologies as part of the academic year preparations. The department has emphasized the importance of a smooth transition for students, particularly those entering new grade levels.
Parents are encouraged to complete the enrollment process early to avoid last-minute rush. Schools will open for the new academic year in the first week of June, with exact dates to be announced shortly by the state education department.
