Noida Schools Extend Winter Break for Young Students Amid Severe Fog
Schools in Noida will stay shut for students from Nursery to Class 8 on Friday, January 16, and Saturday, January 17. Persistent dense fog and cold weather conditions prompted this decision. The district education department had already extended winter holidays until January 15 because of a cold wave in the area.
Official Order Affects All Schools in Gautam Buddh Nagar
Basic Education Officer Rahul Panwar issued the closure order. He acted on directions from the district magistrate after reviewing the current weather scenario. The order applies to all schools in Gautam Buddh Nagar district.
This includes schools affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, IB, UP Board, and other education boards. Both government and private institutions must follow the directive. The officials aim to protect student safety and health during this severe weather period.
IMD Forecast Predicts Continued Cold and Foggy Conditions
The India Meteorological Department anticipates cold and foggy weather for the next few days. On January 16, temperatures may range from 5°C to 19°C. Dense fog could cause low visibility in the morning.
January 17 might see very dense fog. Temperatures could hover between 5°C and 18°C. After January 18, temperatures should rise gradually.
By January 21, minimum temperatures may reach around 6°C. Maximum temperatures could hit 20-21°C. Some fog or mist may still appear in early mornings, but conditions should improve as the day progresses.
Precautionary Measures for Students and Parents
With the cold wave and fog intensifying, students and parents must exercise extra caution. Children should wear warm clothes at all times. Avoid unnecessary outdoor trips during early mornings.
Always carry essential items like scarves, gloves, and masks. Schools and parents share the responsibility of keeping children indoors during thick fog. Stay updated with local authorities for safe travel advisories.
Monitor weather forecasts regularly. Ensure proper heating at home. Drink warm fluids to maintain body temperature. Check on elderly family members and neighbors who might need assistance.
The district administration continues to assess the situation. They will issue further updates if needed. Parents should contact their respective schools for any clarifications regarding the closure.
