RBSE Sets 2025-26 Exam Dates, Ends Auto-Promotion Policy

Rajasthan Board Unveils 2025-26 Academic Calendar with Key Policy Changes

The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) has officially announced the annual examination schedule for the 2025–26 academic session, marking a significant update for students in Classes 9 and 11. In a parallel development, the state's education department has implemented a crucial policy revision, discontinuing the automatic promotion system for Classes 5 and 8. These decisions are aimed at streamlining the academic calendar and enhancing educational standards across Rajasthan.

Class 9 and 11 Exam Schedule and Result Declaration

According to the board's official notification, the annual examinations for RBSE Class 9 and Class 11 will commence on March 7, 2026. The testing period is anticipated to extend through mid-March, with a structured timetable to ensure orderly conduct. March 25, 2026, has been firmly established as the date for the declaration of results. This strategic scheduling is designed to facilitate the timely start of the subsequent academic session, which is slated to begin on April 1, 2026.

To support this timeline, schools throughout Rajasthan have received directives to expedite evaluation processes. Detailed subject-wise schedules have been disseminated to educational institutions and are accessible via official RBSE channels, ensuring transparency and preparedness.

End of Automatic Promotion for Classes 5 and 8

In a landmark policy shift, the Rajasthan education department has terminated the automatic promotion mechanism for students in Classes 5 and 8. Previously, learners in these grades were advanced to the next class irrespective of their academic performance, without the risk of detention.

Effective from the 2025–26 session, this system will be replaced by a mandatory pass requirement in annual examinations for promotion. Students who do not achieve the minimum passing marks will be provided an opportunity to appear for a re-examination within a specified timeframe. Failure to clear the re-exam will necessitate repeating the class. Education officials emphasize that this measure is intended to bolster learning outcomes and ensure that pupils attain foundational academic competencies before progressing.

Administrative Directives for Smooth Exam Conduct

The Rajasthan education department has issued comprehensive instructions to district authorities and school principals to guarantee the seamless execution of examinations. Key focus areas include:

  • Timely completion of the prescribed syllabus.
  • Implementation of fair and impartial evaluation procedures.
  • Efficient processing of results to meet the announced deadlines.

With examinations set to begin on March 7 and results scheduled for March 25, students in Classes 9 and 11 now have a definitive academic roadmap. Schools are expected to align their preparations accordingly and proactively communicate the revised promotion policies and exam schedules to students and parents, fostering clarity and compliance across the educational ecosystem.
