A 21-year-old student from LD Arts College in Ahmedabad was discovered dead at a Gujarat University guest house on Friday, according to police reports. The incident occurred while the student was participating in a National Service Scheme (NSS) national integration camp being held at the university campus.

Details of the Incident

Police have identified the deceased as Maheshwari Khachar, a resident of Botad who was staying at a paying guest accommodation in Ahmedabad. Authorities confirmed that no suicide note was recovered from the scene. An accidental death report has been officially registered, and a thorough investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

Inspector S R Bawa of the Gujarat University police station provided crucial context, stating, "She was lodged in the guest house because she was attending a National Service Scheme (NSS) camp." The camp, which focuses on national integration, has drawn more than 200 students and NSS officers from 10 different states to Gujarat University.

University Response and Camp Details

Gujarat University Registrar P M Patel elaborated on the situation, explaining that the national integration camp has been running from February 4th through February 10th. Students participating in the event were accommodated across four different facilities within the campus, including the Gujarat University Guest House and Transit House where the incident occurred.

The third-year student was discovered around 3:30 pm after she failed to respond to phone calls. According to university authorities, she was scheduled to receive an NSS team arriving from Kolkata when her unresponsiveness raised concerns. University officials promptly notified the police upon discovering the situation.

The university has not released additional information about the student's background or potential motives behind the incident. The investigation remains active as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to this unfortunate discovery at the educational institution's guest facility.
