Tragedy Strikes Bareilly School as Teacher Collapses During Duty
A 47-year-old primary school teacher deployed as a Booth Level Officer (BLO) died under tragic circumstances in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, November 27, 2025. The incident has sparked controversy as the teacher's family blames excessive work pressure from the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) for his untimely death.
What Happened During the Fateful School Day
Sarvesh Kumar Gangwar, a resident of Karmachari Nagar in Bareilly and posted as a primary school teacher in Pardhauli village, collapsed inside the school while performing his duties. Colleagues and school staff immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors examined him and declared him dead upon arrival.
The sudden death has sent shockwaves through the educational community in Bareilly, raising serious questions about the workload placed on teachers assigned additional election-related responsibilities.
Family's Heartbreaking Account of Work Pressure
Speaking about his brother's condition before the tragic incident, Yogesh Gangwar, who is also a teacher and currently serving as a supervisor in the same Special Intensive Revision exercise, revealed disturbing details. "I had met him the day before his death," Yogesh stated. "He told me he was stressed due to the BLO duty and was under immense pressure."
The family's allegations point directly to the demanding nature of the BLO responsibilities during the Special Intensive Revision period, suggesting that the continuous pressure may have contributed to Sarvesh Kumar Gangwar's collapse and subsequent death.
District Administration's Response and Denial
In contrast to the family's claims, the district administration has maintained that there is no excessive pressure on the BLOs performing their duties. After visiting the school where the tragedy occurred, SDM Sadar Pramod Kumar addressed media queries about work pressure concerns.
"As far as work pressure is concerned, this is not the case," the SDM stated, suggesting that the BLO duties were being conducted under normal conditions without unusual demands on the teaching staff.
The conflicting narratives between the grieving family and district officials have created a contentious atmosphere, with many in the teaching community calling for a thorough investigation into the working conditions of BLOs during election revision periods.
