Madurai: The Virudhunagar district administration's Thisai programme has achieved significant milestones in student re-enrollment and technical education support since its launch on January 10. According to a press release from the district administration, the initiative has successfully brought 78 students back to school and enabled 14 students to pursue technical education.
Academic Achievements Under Thisai
The scheme has played a crucial role in preparing students for competitive examinations. It has helped 11 students qualify for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and provided preparation support for other major exams such as the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). This focused approach aims to enhance educational opportunities for underprivileged students in the region.
Uyir Programme: Empowering Vulnerable Groups
In parallel, the Uyir programme has been instrumental in rehabilitating economically disadvantaged women, differently abled children, and juveniles in conflict with the law. The programme provides essential resources including cooking equipment and tools, along with vocational training in sewing and cooking. These efforts are designed to foster self-reliance and improve livelihoods for beneficiaries.
Funding and Implementation
Both programmes are implemented using funds from the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and the District Mineral Fund. This financial backing ensures sustainable support for educational and rehabilitation activities, contributing to the overall development of the community.
