Trichy's Fourth Annual Book Fair Inaugurated by Ministers, Features Extensive Cultural Programs
Municipal administration minister K N Nehru and school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi officially inaugurated Trichy's fourth annual book fair on Saturday. The event was held at St. John's Vestry Higher Secondary School, located near the Trichy central bus stand, marking a significant cultural and educational initiative for the region.
Event Details and Organization
The district administration, in collaboration with The Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI), is jointly organizing this book fair. Scheduled to run from February 14 to February 22, the exhibition offers free entry to all attendees, encouraging widespread participation from students and the general public.
During the inauguration, ministers Nehru and Poyyamozhi emphasized the importance of the event, urging students and community members to actively engage with the exhibition. They highlighted the opportunity to explore a vast collection of books and participate in enriching activities.
Exhibition Features and Stalls
The book fair spans approximately five acres, featuring 130 stalls that display books from more than 100 publishers. This extensive setup provides a diverse range of literary works, catering to various interests and age groups. The fair will be open daily from 10 am to 9 pm, ensuring ample time for visitors to explore the offerings.
Daily Cultural and Educational Programs
A key highlight of the fair is its daily schedule of cultural and educational programs designed to engage attendees:
- From 5 pm to 6 pm: Cultural programs specifically tailored for school students, including interactive activities and performances.
- After 6 pm: A variety of events such as lectures by prominent thinkers, clown shows, interactive storytelling sessions, puppet performances, games, science magic demonstrations, and music entertainment.
Additionally, a dedicated arena has been set up for scientific demonstrations, offering hands-on learning experiences for students interested in science and technology.
Inauguration and Official Presence
The inauguration ceremony was attended by district collector V Saravanan, who was present to support the event. His presence underscored the district administration's commitment to promoting education and cultural activities through such initiatives.
