Vijayapura Braces for Dual Events: TET Exam & Vrukshathon Marathon on Sunday
Vijayapura Traffic Plan for TET Exam & Vrukshathon Marathon

The city of Vijayapura, also known as Gumbaz city, is gearing up for a significant Sunday with two major events scheduled simultaneously: the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) and the Vrukshathon marathon. The district administration has rolled out an extensive traffic management plan to ensure smooth conduct for exam candidates, marathon participants, and the general public.

Comprehensive Traffic Diversions for Smooth Flow

To prevent chaos and inconvenience, Deputy Commissioner Anandh K has issued a detailed order based on a report from Vijayapura SP. The plan outlines specific routes for vehicles entering the city from various directions.

Vehicles arriving from Jamkhandi are directed to use the Vallabh Bhai Circle and Taj Bavadi route to reach the central bus stand. For traffic coming from Kolhar, the approved path is via Kolhar Railway Gate, Ram Nagar, Navabhag Cross, Babaleshwar Naka, and Jod Gummat, leading to the central bus stand.

Those travelling from Athani should take the Ittagi Petrol Pump, Ring Road Ittangihal, and Gang Bavadi route to access the Satellite bus stand. Solapur-bound traffic heading to the central bus stand must use the Solapur bypass, Indi bypass, Managuli bypass, Jal Nagar, and Bagalkot Cross.

Additionally, vehicles from Solapur needing to reach the Satellite bus stand can proceed via the Solapur bypass and Shastri Nagar cross. All traffic from Sindagi Naka will be diverted to run along the Managuli bypass, Jal Nagar, and Bagalkot Cross.

Special Routes for TET Candidates

With several TET examination centres located on the Vrukshathon marathon route, the administration has identified alternative access paths for candidates to avoid delays.

  • Candidates for Loyola School should commute via Ahalyabai Circle and Badi Kamaan Cross.
  • Those headed to Govt Junior College for Boys and Govt Junior College for Girls are advised to come via Meenakshi Chowk and Tipu Sultan Circle.
  • Examinees for Marathi Vidyalaya and Anjuman Girls High School can approach from the bus stand and Jal Nagar area.
  • Candidates assigned to BDE Society High School should use the route via Sri Siddeshwar Ashram and Madhula Maruti Temple, Uppali Burj.

Vrukshathon Marathon: Participation and Parking Guidelines

Meanwhile, SP Laxman Nimbargi provided details about the Vrukshathon, a major sporting event. He stated that approximately 24,000 runners are expected to participate in races spanning 5km, 10km, and the half-marathon distance of 21km. The event will start and conclude at the Ambedkar Stadium.

To manage the expected influx of vehicles, parking arrangements have been made within a 1-kilometre radius of the venue. Authorities have made a strong appeal to participants to minimise congestion.

"Participants are strongly suggested not to bring one vehicle per person," stated SP Nimbargi. He requested that people come in groups, utilising the full capacity of their vehicles—4-5 persons per car and two persons on bikes—to significantly reduce the number of vehicles on the road.

The coordinated efforts by the Vijayapura district administration and police aim to ensure both the crucial teacher recruitment exam and the community fitness event proceed without major disruptions, safeguarding the interests of thousands of citizens.
