In a significant development, Andhra University and the Visakhapatnam district administration conducted a comprehensive review on Friday to finalize arrangements for the closing ceremony of the university's centenary celebrations. The grand event is scheduled for April 27 at the AU engineering college grounds and is anticipated to attract nearly 25,000 attendees, including students, parents, and the general public.
High-Profile Chief Guests and Administrative Coordination
The ceremony will be graced by two distinguished chief guests: Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan and legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Their presence underscores the national importance of this milestone event. During the review meeting, state education secretary Kona Sasidhar and commissioner of collegiate education Bharat Gupta participated virtually, offering several key suggestions to enhance the proceedings.
District collector M Abhishikt Kishore emphasized the need for comprehensive arrangements to ensure the successful conduct of the closing ceremony. He directed officials to implement foolproof plans for the arrival, accommodation, and security of all VVIPs, highlighting the critical nature of logistical coordination.

To facilitate smooth execution, two special committees have been constituted. An advisory committee, comprising university alumni and local public representatives, will provide strategic guidance, while a working committee will coordinate directly between the district administration and university faculty. This dual-committee structure aims to streamline operations and address potential challenges proactively.
Vice-chancellor Prof GP Rajasekhar outlined the preliminary programmes and plans proposed by the university, detailing a schedule that includes cultural activities and formal ceremonies. Collector Kishore instructed that all attendees, including students, parents, and the public, must be seated in their designated areas by 2 pm to maintain order and punctuality.

In addition to the main ceremony, cultural programmes will be organized on a side stage for students before the arrival of the VVIPs.
