The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially granted a U/A certificate to the much-anticipated action entertainer 'Retta Thala', starring Arun Vijay in the lead. The film, directed by Krish Thirukumaran, is now cleared for a worldwide theatrical release on December 25, 2025.
The production house behind the film, BTG Universal, confirmed the news on its social media timeline with a post that read, "Certified. Charged. Ready." The announcement has set the stage for a major Christmas release next year.
Star Cast and Temple Visit Ahead of Release
Ahead of the film's release, lead actors Arun Vijay and Siddhi Idnani visited the Arulmigu Vennankodi Muniappan Temple in Salem to seek blessings. Arun Vijay shared pictures from the visit on his social media, captioning it, "Took the blessings... #RettaThala in two days!!"
The film features Arun Vijay in a challenging dual role. In an earlier exclusive interview with IANS, the actor revealed his character names as Malpe Upendra and Kali. He described 'Retta Thala' as "a gripping action thriller that will be about what happens when the shades of grey in all individuals start to show simultaneously."
Plot Intrigue and Technical Brilliance
The recently released trailer offers a glimpse into a complex narrative blending action, romance, and revenge. The plot appears to revolve around Arun Vijay's character, who is in a relationship with Siddhi Idnani's character, named Andre. However, a twist is introduced when Tanya Ravichandran's character offers a blank cheque to anyone who can kill her husband's murderer.
The trailer hints at a high-stakes confrontation, with dialogues like "Death is laughing at me" and "This will be a fight to the finish," promising intense action sequences.
The film boasts a strong supporting cast including Tanya Ravichandran, Yogi Samy, John Vijay, Hareesh Peradi, and Balaji Murugadoss in pivotal roles.

'Retta Thala' is backed by an acclaimed technical crew. The music is composed by Sam CS, while Tijo Tomy handles the cinematography. The editing is done by Anthony, and the art direction is by Arunshankar Durai.
Given its action-heavy premise, the stunt choreography is managed by P.C. Stunts. The costumes are designed by Kiruthika Sekar, and the songs are choreographed by Suren R and Bobby Antony.
With the CBFC clearance now secured and the release date locked, the stage is set for Arun Vijay's dual-role action thriller to make a big splash at the box office in the festive season of 2025.
