Popular rapper and singer Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, widely known as Badshah, appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Tuesday to offer a formal apology regarding his recent song 'Tateeree'. The artist expressed deep regret for the content and pledged to actively contribute to women's empowerment initiatives as part of his commitment to making amends.
Controversy Surrounding 'Tateeree' Lyrics and Presentation
The controversy erupted last month following the release of the song 'Tateeree', which drew significant criticism for its lyrical content and visual presentation. The NCW took up the matter suo motu, leading to a formal hearing chaired by Commission Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar. During the proceedings, Rahatkar emphasized that the song's lyrics and overall presentation had severely undermined the dignity and decency of women, causing widespread concern.
Also present at the hearing were the song's directors, Joban Sandhu and Mahavir Singh, along with producer Hiten. All parties involved submitted unconditional written apologies to the commission, acknowledging the harm caused to societal values and expressing sincere remorse for their actions.
Badshah's Commitment to Women's Empowerment and Educational Support
In his statement to the commission, Badshah outlined specific measures he would undertake to rectify the situation and promote positive change. 'I will work for the upliftment of women and society,' he assured, detailing a concrete plan that includes:
- Creating and presenting a positive song focused on women's empowerment within the next four months.
- Sponsoring the complete education of 50 girls from economically weaker sections, ensuring they receive necessary academic support.
- Refraining from any future involvement in activities that could potentially harm the dignity of women or societal norms.
The commission noted that all individuals involved provided assurances that they would avoid such controversial activities moving forward. Chairperson Rahatkar directed them to ensure that similar incidents are not repeated, highlighting the importance of responsible content creation in the entertainment industry.
