Jisshu Sengupta Opens Up About Filming 'Bhoot Bangla' with Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar
Versatile actor Jisshu Sengupta, known for his roles in Hindi films like 'Sita Ramam' and Bengali cinema, is set to appear in the upcoming horror-comedy 'Bhoot Bangla'. In a recent interview, he detailed his experience working with acclaimed director Priyadarshan and Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, shedding light on the film's production dynamics.
Initial Adjustments to Priyadarshan's Directing Style
Jisshu Sengupta admitted that it took him some time to fully adapt to Priyadarshan's unique working approach. "The first couple of days, I was really wouldn't say I was tense, but I was, you know, working with 'THE' Priyadarshan," he explained. "On the set, he is a very chilled-out director. He has fun and takes advice from everyone."
He recalled feeling slightly unsure initially due to the director's minimal feedback. "The first couple of days, I was a little unsure because he would say 'cut' and then 'next shot'. So I thought maybe something was going wrong," Jisshu revealed. After consulting with assistant director Abhilash, he learned that Priyadarshan's silence typically indicated approval. "Abhilash told me, 'No, no, Jisshu sir, everything is fine. He's just like this.' Then after two to three days, I was okay. If he's not okay, he will come and tell you. If he is okay, he will not say anything," he added.
Collaborative Atmosphere with Akshay Kumar
Jisshu Sengupta praised Akshay Kumar for his collaborative spirit on set. "Akshay sir would come and say, 'Sir, maybe we can do it like this,' and he would say, 'This is a good thing, let's do it.' That's the kind of person he is," he stated. He further emphasized, "Akshay paaji was also a delight to work with. It was so much fun to be around him."
The actor highlighted that once he understood Priyadarshan's methods, he felt completely at ease. "Once I understood that if he is not saying anything, it means everything is okay, I was completely at ease. It has been a lot of fun working with him. There's no two ways about it," Jisshu remarked.
Memorable Filming Experiences and Upcoming Release
Jisshu also shared anecdotes from the London schedule of 'Bhoot Bangla'. "There was a schedule in London, and I was the only actor there, but we had so much fun. Priyadarshan sir and I had a great time there as well," he said, underscoring the enjoyable working environment.
The film marks a significant reunion between Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after many years. 'Bhoot Bangla' features an ensemble cast including:
