Kannada Actor Dhanush Raj Files Police Complaint Against Wife, Alleges Assault & Threats
Kannada Actor Dhanush Raj, Wife File Cross-Complaints in Bengaluru

A domestic dispute within the family of Kannada actor Dhanush Raj has escalated into a serious legal confrontation, with both the actor and his wife filing police complaints against each other in Bengaluru. The case, now under investigation, involves grave allegations from both sides, turning a private matter into a public legal saga.

Actor Alleges Physical Assault and Death Threats

According to the complaint filed by Dhanush Raj at the Girinagar police station, the conflict began with his wife, Ashrita, persistently questioning him about his whereabouts and work-related international tours. The actor claimed these inquiries led to constant arguments. The situation reportedly worsened when, during one such altercation, Ashrita allegedly accused him of traveling abroad with another woman, despite his explanations that it was purely for work.

Upon his return to Bengaluru, the actor alleges the situation turned violent. Dhanush Raj stated in his complaint that he was physically assaulted by his wife at their residence. He further claimed that she threatened to hire hooligans to kill him, leaving him traumatized and fearing for his physical safety. This prompted him to seek police protection for his mental peace and security.

Emotional Harassment and Self-Harm Threats Cited

Beyond the physical violence, Dhanush Raj's complaint details instances of severe emotional harassment. He informed the police that during heated arguments, Ashrita allegedly threatened to harm herself, including breaking bathroom glass to cut her wrist. The actor asserted that the cumulative effect of these repeated threats, harsh arguments, and the fear of the situation deteriorating further took a severe toll on his mental health. He expressed that approaching the law was a last resort to prevent matters from escalating further.

Wife Counters with Dowry Harassment Allegations

In a dramatic twist, Ashrita filed a counter First Information Report (FIR) at the same police station. Her complaint presents a completely different narrative. She alleged that she has been a victim of dowry harassment and both physical and mental torture by Dhanush Raj. According to her FIR, the couple got married on March 2, 2025, in Bengaluru.

Ashrita claimed that after a few weeks of a cordial relationship, the actor began harassing her for dowry and subjected her to ill-treatment. She stated that even after intervention by a panchayat (community elders' council) and a subsequent conciliation, the harassment continued. Her complaint directly contradicts the actor's claims, painting him as the aggressor in their marital discord.

Police Investigation Underway for Both Complaints

With two starkly opposing narratives on record, the Girinagar police have confirmed that a thorough investigation is now in progress. Officers are recording statements from both parties and any relevant witnesses to piece together the sequence of events. The case highlights the complexities often involved in domestic disputes where both sides level serious accusations. The legal process will now determine the course of action based on the evidence gathered.
