Prominent Kannada filmmaker Indrajit Lankesh is making a significant leap into Hindi cinema with his upcoming project titled 'Lovemiles'. This move marks a major expansion for the director, known for his work in South Indian films, as he prepares to helm a pan-India road-trip narrative.
A Star-Studded Ensemble Meets Fresh Faces
The film assembles an impressive lineup of established actors, including Mahesh Manjrekar, Jayaprada, Zarina Wahab, Rahul Dev, Vikram Kochhar, Chaya Kadam, Upasana Singh, Ankit Arora, and Amit Behl. However, staying true to his reputation for spotting new talent, Lankesh is also introducing three fresh faces to Bollywood. Gaurav Dingra, Pooja Katyal, and Jhanavi Moncourt are all set to make their industry debut with this project.
A Cinematic Journey Across India
True to its name, 'Lovemiles' is a road-trip film that has already embarked on an extensive shooting schedule across the length and breadth of the country. The crew has filmed in numerous locations, including Bengaluru, Chikkamagaluru, Hyderabad, Agra, Delhi, Mumbai, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Mangaluru, Rajasthan, and Kerala. Reports indicate that the journey is far from over, with more miles to cover.
Why a Hindi Film Now?
When asked about his decision to direct a Hindi film, Indrajit Lankesh, who previously directed the multi-lingual film 'Shakeela', provided a clear rationale. He emphasized that while the South Indian film industry has countless stories to tell and will continue to do so, this particular narrative demanded to be told in Hindi to reach its intended audience.
He acknowledged the challenges of mounting a project of this scale, which involves managing a sprawling cast and a storyline that traverses diverse Indian landscapes. Despite the logistical hurdles, Lankesh expressed his determination to undertake this creative journey, signaling his ambition to connect with a wider, national viewership.
