Krithi Shetty Opens Up About Hollywood Favorites and Film Perspectives
Actress Krithi Shetty is currently celebrating the theatrical release of her latest Telugu film, 'Love Insurance Kompany', also known as 'LIK'. Directed by Vignesh Shivan, the movie features Pradeep Ranganathan, renowned for his role in 'Dragon'. During the promotional activities for this project, Shetty engaged in a candid conversation about cinema, revealing her thoughts on two notable Hollywood films that have significantly impacted her.
Krithi Shetty's Evolving View on 'Barbie'
In a recent interview with Sudhir Srinivasan, the young actress from 'Uppena' explained how certain movies can change one's perception over time. She highlighted Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie', starring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and Emma Mackey, as a prime example. Initially, Shetty admitted she did not connect with the film, expecting a simple, sweet princess story. "I thought it would be a 'cutesy' film," she shared, leading to initial disappointment.
However, upon a second viewing, her perspective shifted dramatically. "The second time I watched it, I felt like, 'Oh, this movie is beautiful! You really need to see it from some kind of perspective, and then it really hits,'" Shetty expressed. She emphasized that the film offers a profound commentary on how society views women, and she believes many people judged it too hastily. "I wanted to say it for so long because I feel like people had so much disappointment towards the film, but it was really good," she added, advocating for a deeper appreciation of its themes.
Admiration for 'Kill Bill' and Action Aspirations
Krithi Shetty also spoke enthusiastically about Quentin Tarantino's 'Kill Bill', starring Uma Thurman as a vengeful fighter. She expressed a strong fondness for this type of action-packed narrative and voiced her desire to see similar films produced in India. "I really am waiting for that to happen here more," she stated, highlighting a gap in the Indian film industry for such genres.
Jokingly, she remarked, "I just need my Tarantino," indicating her eagerness for visionary directors to bring such stories to life locally. With a background in Taekwondo training, Shetty feels well-prepared and eager to take on roles that involve intense action sequences, showcasing her versatility beyond her current projects.
Promoting 'Love Insurance Kompany' and Future Endeavors
As she continues to promote 'Love Insurance Kompany', Krithi Shetty's insights into Hollywood films reflect her growing maturity as an actress and critic. Her ability to reassess and appreciate complex narratives like 'Barbie', combined with her passion for action cinema exemplified by 'Kill Bill', positions her as a thoughtful voice in the entertainment industry. Fans and critics alike can look forward to her potential ventures into more diverse roles, inspired by these international influences.
