Krystle D'Souza on Replacing Tamannaah in 'Shararat': 'It Was Destiny'
Krystle D'Souza Opens Up on Replacing Tamannaah in 'Shararat'

Actress Krystle D'Souza has broken her silence on stepping into the shoes of Tamannaah Bhatia for the popular song 'Shararat' from the espionage thriller 'Dhurandhar'. In a recent interview, D'Souza attributed the casting change to destiny while heaping praise on her fellow actress's abilities and screen presence.

Destiny's Role in the Casting

Addressing the reports head-on, Krystle D'Souza shared her perspective with IANS. "What's meant to be, will be," she stated, reflecting on the situation. She clarified that she was unaware of the behind-the-scenes decisions that led to Tamannaah being replaced but was gracious in her comments about the 'Baahubali' star.

"I had no idea about all this, but I mean, she's amazing, she's beautiful, and she's so good at what she does," D'Souza said. She emphasized a philosophical outlook, adding, "More power to her, you know—what's written in someone's destiny, they receive. I feel like this was meant for me; it was meant for Ayesha, and we got it."

Praise for Tamannaah and Women in Cinema

Krystle D'Souza was quick to ensure her comments did not diminish Tamannaah Bhatia's stature. "But that doesn't take away from how beautiful Tamannaah is or what a great performer she is!" she asserted. She acknowledged that Tamannaah would have brought a unique flavour to the track.

"Maybe she would have added her own spark to a song—she brings her own aura, her own limelight, and I think that's wonderful," D'Souza noted. She concluded her thoughts with a message of solidarity, saying, "I feel proud of every woman who is doing so well, and I'd love to see more women deliver amazing, crazy performances and support one another."

Behind the Scenes of 'Shararat'

The energetic song 'Shararat' features Krystle D'Souza alongside actress Ayesha Khan. It is a foot-tapping number sung by popular Punjabi vocalist Jasmine Sandlas and Madhubanti Bagchi. The song is part of the film 'Dhurandhar', which was directed by Aditya Dhar and released in theaters on December 5, 2025.

Earlier, choreographer Vijay Ganguly had mentioned that Tamannaah Bhatia was initially considered for the song, but director Aditya Dhar did not approve the idea. This statement was later clarified, with claims that the actress was never actually in contention for the item number.
