Actor Mallhar Celebrates Ahmedabad Foundation Day with Heartfelt Reflections

As an Amdavadi, I feel an immediate sense of pride in how much the city has grown, says actor Mallhar, who recently participated in a special shoot to commemorate Ahmedabad Foundation Day. In an exclusive conversation, the actor delves into what the vibrant city has given him, his deep affection for its culinary delights, and much more.

People Have Started Taking Ahmedabad Seriously Now

Ahmedabad is a city where you can live openly and freely. There is a distinct vibe here that fosters a strong sense of community and comfort, providing a solid foundation for both personal and professional growth. In this city, you know everyone, and everyone knows you. Everything feels like 'aapnu' or our own, so you never hesitate to discuss Ahmedabad with anyone. When we step outside Gujarat and hear people talking about Ahmedabad with seriousness, it fills me with immense pride. People have genuinely started taking the city seriously now. I often hear comments like, 'Ahmedabad has developed so much,' and I can't help but think, you haven't seen anything yet in Ahmedabad! Calling myself an Amdavadi is a wholesome and fulfilling feeling.

Food Is My Favorite Element About the City

Food stands out as my absolute favorite aspect of Ahmedabad. The more I travel to other places, the more I realize that you simply cannot find food like Ahmedabad's anywhere else. Even during my formative years, my go-to hangout spots were always the local food joints. I have a special fondness for visiting places like Khaman House, Jashuben Shah Old Pizza, and the famous pav bhaji outlets. I vividly recall trips to a food joint named Timbaktu when we lived in Satadhar. Today, cafes have become the city's preferred hangout spots, and many of them still serve my childhood favorites. I frequently return to savor those familiar and comforting tastes. Additionally, it feels incredibly amazing to have launched our first cafe right here in Ahmedabad.

Grateful for the Fan Base in the City

My acting journey began in Ahmedabad, spanning from theatre to films, and the love I have received is truly beyond words. The support Amdavadis show for my films—and indeed, for any venture I undertake—is unwavering, and I am profoundly grateful for that. Knowing that my work touches so many people in my own city is a beautiful and heartwarming feeling. The fan base I enjoy here holds a very special place in my heart. I believe the city has offered me sukh (happiness), shanti (peace), and samruddhi (prosperity). Moreover, this city played a pivotal role in connecting me with my wife, actress Puja Joshi. Though she hails from Mumbai, our paths crossed during a web series shoot in Ahmedabad.

I Still Love the Old City

There has been tremendous growth in terms of lifestyle and exposure in Ahmedabad. What was once considered a luxury in my childhood has now become commonplace. For instance, eating a vada pav or pizza outside used to be a delightful treat back then, but today, it's no longer such a big deal. In the past, we rarely had opportunities to see our favorite singers perform live; now, every major performer or band visits the city. Honestly, I am an old-school guy at heart and still cherish the old city we grew up in. However, I equally appreciate modern Ahmedabad and its advancements. To all the artists aspiring to kickstart their careers in Ahmedabad, my advice is to stay patient and keep working hard. Success might come instantly, or it may take its own sweet time—but this city always finds a way to surprise and reward you.
