Manini Chadha Credits Goa for Her Bollywood Breakthrough Role
Dressed in a simple white shirt and blue jeans, actress Manini Chadha sat with a cup of coffee, fully immersed in the relaxed atmosphere of Goa. It was in this serene coastal setting, she fondly recalls, that she received the life-changing phone call for Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari – a moment that cemented Goa's status as her personal lucky charm.
The Serendipitous Move to Goa
"Goa has been incredibly fortunate for me, particularly with Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari," Manini reveals with a smile. "When you work in the film industry, you can easily become trapped in the Mumbai bubble, and the pressure can become overwhelming. I decided to relocate to Goa because we own a house here. Just two weeks after my move, I received a call from Dharma Productions offering me the film. I believe it was a shift in energy that made all the difference."
Having traveled frequently between Mumbai and Goa for years, the Kahaani 2 actress says the state has always felt like a second home. "I've been visiting Goa for a long time. I attended St. Xavier's College in Mumbai, and many of my friends were born and raised here. Some of my closest companions still reside in Panaji and Dona Paula. Over the years, I've connected with more locals and discovered a different dimension of Goa beyond the typical beaches and parties. There's a profound depth to this place," she elaborates.
Embracing Goa as Home
Manini began spending extended periods in Goa during the COVID-19 pandemic and officially moved into her apartment in Salvador do Mundo in early 2024. This transition marked a significant chapter in her personal and professional life.
Creative Roots and Early Influences
Growing up in a creatively rich environment significantly shaped her career path. With her father involved in documentary filmmaking and her mother working as a journalist, Manini was introduced to the arts from a young age. "My parents always encouraged me to participate in drama, dance, and singing from childhood. Acting felt natural because it was an activity I genuinely enjoyed," she shares.
Navigating Bollywood's Competitive Landscape
However, the actress acknowledges the formidable challenges within the industry. "The competition is intense, and breaking through is exceptionally difficult, especially without established connections. Every opportunity I've secured has come through auditions and sheer merit. The emotional rollercoaster is real – when you're successful, it's euphoric, but the lows can be utterly devastating," Manini confesses.
Her journey underscores the resilience required to thrive in Bollywood, where talent and perseverance often pave the way forward amidst fierce rivalry.
