Composer Nivas K Prasanna Enters Defining Career Phase After Recent Film Successes
Riding high on the critical and commercial success of his recent film projects Bison and Thaai Kizhavi, acclaimed composer Nivas K Prasanna believes he is entering what could be the most defining phase of his musical career. The overwhelmingly positive response to these films has opened up numerous new opportunities within the industry, though the composer reveals he is approaching them with careful consideration and artistic discernment.
Selective Approach to New Opportunities
"I'm receiving a substantial number of offers following these films, but I've been intentionally selective," Nivas explains. "Currently, it genuinely feels like the next significant chapter of my career has commenced. I want to utilize this phase to its maximum potential and create meaningful, high-quality music. I'm confident that this is my purpose and calling."
Industry Realities and Visibility Challenges
Despite his growing success, Nivas acknowledges that the entertainment industry often places considerable emphasis on visibility and commercial performance alongside artistic merit. "You might be creating excellent music, but what many people primarily seek is a hit song or a commercially successful film. Face value and recognition matter significantly—that's simply how the industry operates," he elaborates candidly.
Navigating Social Media and Public Presence
Though naturally reserved and introverted, Nivas admits he has gradually begun stepping into the public spotlight more deliberately. "I don't typically make concerted efforts to showcase myself publicly, but numerous people kept advising me that audiences should know who composed the music they enjoy. I'm somewhat shy about self-promotion, but I'm making genuine attempts," he shares.
This includes appearing in music videos and maintaining a social media presence—something he confesses he isn't particularly enthusiastic about. "I'm too lazy for Instagram," he laughs. "I don't even remember my password. My friends manage the account. Occasionally, you must accept collaboration requests from production houses or record labels—otherwise they might feel slighted. So, I primarily use Instagram for professional networking purposes."
Musical Preferences and Genre Exploration
While Nivas deeply enjoys working on meaningful, content-driven films, he also gravitates toward projects that carry a sense of joy and entertainment. "I genuinely like being part of happy, fun films. People often perceive me as a serious individual, but actually I'm quite playful and humorous," he says with a smile. "I want that positive energy to reflect authentically in my musical compositions as well."
He explains that content-driven films can sometimes become emotionally intense. "They can become very serious for me personally, so I ensure I maintain a healthy balance between fun films and intense ones. As a composer, I aspire to explore numerous musical genres and styles."
With his career expanding significantly, his working methodology is also evolving. "Previously, I handled virtually everything independently. Now, I have the creative freedom to collaborate with a larger, more specialized team," he notes.
Artistic Self-Reflection and Creative Evolution
Interestingly, Nivas reveals he has recently begun questioning his own musical patterns and compositional tendencies. "I occasionally feel bored with my own music," he admits frankly. "I notice repeated musical structures and patterns in what I create. I want to break those conventions and experiment with something genuinely innovative."
He believes it is remarkably easy for composers to slip into comfortable, familiar zones. "When something connects powerfully with audiences, you naturally tend to repeat similar thought processes and approaches. However, you must consciously break those patterns and demonstrate courage to experiment—regardless of whether it becomes a commercial hit or not."
Cautious Exploration of Acting Opportunities
Beyond music composition, Nivas has begun cautiously exploring acting opportunities—though with measured expectations. "I'm receiving offers to act, but I don't want to become a superficial, surface-level actor," he states. "Therefore, I'm undertaking foundational preparation first. Simply enjoying being in front of the camera doesn't automatically translate to acting capability."
He is currently attending professional acting classes and finds the process intellectually refreshing. "It provides a completely new artistic perspective. I don't envision myself doing music twenty-four hours daily inside a studio room. I want to venture outside, explore the world, and learn a new creative craft."
Simultaneously, he maintains realistic expectations about stardom. "Acting is primarily for enjoyment and artistic exploration. Becoming a celebrity isn't my objective—and it's not entirely within my control anyway. The camera represents a sacred artistic space; it won't accept everyone indiscriminately. I possess that clarity and understanding."
