International actress Sophie Turner has added her voice to the growing chorus of global celebrities expressing deep admiration for Indian cinema. The star, best known for her role as Sansa Stark in the epic series Game of Thrones, recently shared her high praise for Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, and revealed a personal ambition to be part of the industry.
Shah Rukh Khan is the GOAT, Says Turner
In a candid interview, Sophie Turner did not hold back her admiration for the King of Bollywood. When asked about her favourites, she declared Shah Rukh Khan as the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT). "My gosh, that's tough! I mean, Shah Rukh Khan is the GOAT, right?" she exclaimed. She also expressed great fondness for actress Deepika Padukone, calling her "amazing," and mentioned her enjoyment of the blockbuster film RRR.
A Dream to Dance in Bollywood
Beyond just being a fan, Sophie Turner openly shared her desire to work in a Hindi film. She was particularly drawn to the unique spectacle of Bollywood productions. "I'd actually love to be in a Bollywood movie. I'd love to do the dance," she said. Turner highlighted the distinct visual appeal, noting, "I think it's such a spectacle and they're so beautiful. The production design is so unlike anything I think we will ever see on a Western film set."
While she has yet to work in an Indian project, Turner is no stranger to the country's glamorous circles. She visited India in 2018 to attend the lavish wedding festivities of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, her former brother-in-law. The event was a grand confluence of Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities.
Joining a Legacy of Global Admirers
Sophie Turner is far from the first international star to publicly admire Shah Rukh Khan. Daniel Radcliffe, the actor who brought Harry Potter to life, praised Khan back in 2013. He stated that the Bollywood superstar is "really famous in Britain" and described him as "an epitome of style and class."
Similarly, Kristen Stewart of Twilight fame expressed her fandom in a 2011 interview. She called Khan "an epitome of romance in Bollywood" and revealed her wish to work with him, even expressing a willingness to learn Hindi for the opportunity. She had also been impressed by the promos of his film Ra.One at the time.
Sophie Turner's comments underscore the ever-growing global footprint and appeal of Bollywood. Her specific praise for the artistry and scale of production highlights the unique elements that make Indian cinema stand out on the world stage, captivating audiences and artists alike.
