Vikas Kalantri Eyes Comeback After 12-Year Break, Prefers Web Shows
Vikas Kalantri plans acting comeback after long break

Bollywood actor Vikas Kalantri, known for his role in the film 'Nayee Padosan', has announced he is actively considering a return to the screen after a prolonged absence of over a decade. The actor, whose filmography includes titles like 'Pyaar Zindagi Hai', 'Dil Bechara Pyaar Ka Maara', 'Jigyaasa', and 'Naqaab', has been away from acting since 2012.

An Unplanned Hiatus and Business Ventures

In a recent revelation, Kalantri clarified that his long break from the film industry was not a calculated decision. After the release of 'Nayee Padosan' in 2003, there were discussions about a potential sequel. However, his career path took a different turn. He ventured into talent scouting and subsequently established his own event management company.

"It wasn't planned at all," Kalantri explained. "I enjoyed that process, and the break just happened." He emphasized that while he has been focused on his business interests, the desire to act has never truly faded. He is now seeking the right project to mark his return.

Selective About the Comeback Format

Kalantri is approaching his comeback with a clear and selective vision. He stated that he is primarily interested in opportunities that do not demand extremely long shooting schedules, allowing him to balance his professional commitments. He is currently only considering web shows and explicitly ruling out television serials for his return.

"I'm open to doing verticals or projects where I'm not required for a very long time," he said. "I'm looking for the right opportunity. Something had come earlier, but I was traveling then. Hopefully, I'll do something soon." The actor also mentioned he is working on his personal fitness and presentation to ensure a contemporary look for his on-screen return.

Embracing a Changed Entertainment Landscape

Reflecting on the industry's evolution during his time away, Kalantri expressed optimism. He noted that the rigid barriers between different media have dissolved. "Earlier, if you were doing films, you couldn't do TV, and OTT didn't exist. Short formats and verticals were not there at all," he observed.

He believes the current environment is more welcoming and less prone to stereotyping actors. "Actors were stereotyped. Now the space is much more open," Kalantri added, highlighting the creative freedom offered by digital platforms.

Personal Life and Family

On the personal front, Vikas Kalantri is married to television actress Priyanka Chibber, renowned for her role in the popular series 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai'. The couple exchanged vows in February 2012. Their family grew with the arrival of a son in July 2019.
