Mohanlal's suspense thriller 'Drishyam 3' continued its steady theatrical journey and witnessed a healthy jump in collections during the weekend. The film recorded stronger numbers on Saturday and maintained its hold despite entering the third week of its run.
'Drishyam 3' records strong jump on Day 17
According to Sacnilk, 'Drishyam 3' collected Rs 1.30 crore net on Day 17. This figure represents a 62.5 percent increase compared to Day 16 earnings of Rs 80 lakhs. The collection was recorded across 761 shows. Following the latest update, the film's total India net collection has reached Rs 104.73 crore. The India gross collection currently stands at Rs 121.52 crore. 'Drishyam 3' collected Rs 10 lakhs overseas on Day 17.
The film's overseas gross collection has climbed to Rs 111.35 crore. The worldwide gross collection has now reached Rs 232.87 crore. The film had earlier completed its first week with Rs 81.95 crore. During the second week, it added another Rs 20.68 crore to its total.
Occupancy improves during later shows
The Malayalam version recorded an overall occupancy of 37.58 percent. Morning shows began at lower numbers before gradually increasing through the day. Night shows registered the highest attendance with 41.50 percent occupancy. State-wise figures also showed Kerala remaining the strongest market for the film on Day 17.
George Kutty's inspiration revealed
Meanwhile, director Jeethu Joseph recently spoke about the inspiration behind George Kutty's character during a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter. The filmmaker revealed that several aspects of the iconic character were influenced by his father. According to Jeethu Joseph, his father had worked as an agriculturist before later becoming an MLA. 'Drishyam' director also explained that his father maintained a simple personality and was someone who connected easily with people around him.
