The highly anticipated fourth installment in the Spider-Man franchise, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has already broken records at the box office just one day after advance ticket sales opened. The film, which brings back Tom Holland as Peter Parker in the next chapter of the Marvel superhero series, has reportedly achieved the strongest first-day US presales for any film in the past five years.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Among Highest First-Day Presales
According to a report from Deadline, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has surpassed the first-day presale performance of several major recent superhero releases, including Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which debuted with USD 187.4 million domestically in 2022. The film's presales are the best since Spider-Man: No Way Home, which earned an estimated USD 78 million in presales before a massive USD 260.1 million domestic opening weekend and over USD 1.92 billion worldwide.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day vs Spider-Man: No Way Home
No Way Home holds the record for the second-biggest opening weekend in North American box office history, behind only Avengers: Endgame (USD 357.1 million). Its worldwide opening of USD 600.5 million is the third-largest global debut ever, trailing Avengers: Endgame (USD 1.22 billion) and Avengers: Infinity War (USD 640.5 million).
Spider-Man: Brand New Day to Have No IMAX Releases
Notably, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has achieved strong presales despite not having access to IMAX screens during its launch. Premium-format theaters have been locked for a three-week screening deal with Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film is scheduled to open on July 31.
