Abhishek Sharrma on Growth and Desire for Meaningful Roles

Abhishek Sharrma, who is receiving widespread appreciation for his portrayal of Devansh in the television show Vasudha, has opened up about how his journey in the entertainment industry has transformed him beyond acting. He described the experience as a blend of learning, setbacks, and steady growth over the years.

Industry as a Teacher

Talking about his personal evolution, Abhishek stated that the industry has been instrumental in shaping his character. He explained, “Honestly, the industry has been my biggest teacher. It has shaped me far beyond just acting. It has built my patience, emotional strength and discipline. It has taught me to be courageous.” He noted that early expectations often evolve with experience, and consistency becomes more crucial than instant success.

Understanding the Craft

He further elaborated that acting goes beyond talent, requiring a deep understanding of the craft. “Professionally, I’ve learned that talent is just one part of the game. Understanding the camera, the audience, and storytelling is equally important, and the craft is the most important of all,” he said. On a personal level, Abhishek believes the industry’s ups and downs have fortified him. “Rejections, long hours, unpredictability—they either break you or build you. For me, they have built resilience and clarity about why I do and what I do,” he added.

Future Role Aspirations

When asked about the types of roles he now wishes to explore, Abhishek expressed a clear preference for more meaningful and layered characters. He said, “At this stage, I’m looking for roles that challenge me and allow me to explore different layers as an actor. I don’t want to be boxed into one image.” He also voiced his interest in content-driven projects across television, OTT platforms, and films.

“I want to do characters that are real, flawed and impactful. I’m very keen on working with directors who push boundaries and tell meaningful stories. The goal now is growth - not just visibility,” he stated.

Leaving a Lasting Impact

Abhishek added that he hopes to be part of projects that leave a lasting impression on the audience. “I want to create an impact that stays with people long after they’ve watched it. I want to inspire the audience the way I get inspired when I see great performances and storytelling,” he concluded.
