During his opening monologue, the 57-year-old comedian joked about not being personally nominated for an award. However, Romesh Ranganathan, known for 'Taskmaster' and 'The Ranganation,' had received two nominations in the Entertainment Performance category. "Will I be punching the air if he loses? We will see. But this is not about the personal grievances that gnaw away at my soul," Davies stated, before adding, "It can feel like an industry under pressure, I've dipped into new media, I've seen what is eating away at our revenues," and pledged that the ceremony would celebrate 'proper telly.'

Ranganathan, 48, was nominated for 'Rob & Romesh Vs.' and 'Romesh: Can't Knock The Hustle,' marking a significant high in his career. However, Bob Mortimer won the Entertainment Performance category for 'Last One Laughing UK,' which also took home the Entertainment Series award. Davies and Ranganathan, both acclaimed British comedians, are known for their witty banter and heated rivalry, especially after their time on 'Taskmaster.'
