Bruce Dern on How Quentin Tarantino Scolded Brad Pitt
While attending the Cannes Film Festival, Bruce Dern shared details about his experience filming with Quentin Tarantino in 2019. He recounted a specific scene where Pitt's character says goodbye to his character. During the scene, when Pitt woke him up, Dern felt groggy and improvised a line not in the script. This prompted Pitt to cut the cameras, which angered Tarantino.
Dern explained, "He (Brad Pitt) cut the camera. The look on Quentin's face — I mean, he was insanely grave — and he said, 'Brad, what did you just do?' He said, 'Well, I cut the camera.'" Tarantino then replied, "Never again in your life will you ever cut a camera, or you'll be dead in this business. That's my domain. Don't stop behavior." After the scolding, they continued the scene, with Pitt explaining, "Well, that wasn't in the script what he said."
