A late-night gathering among colleagues in Gurgaon's DLF Phase-III turned violent after two men allegedly mocked a colleague's accent and abused him, leaving a 24-year-old grievously injured on May 21.
Incident Details
Police said the victim, Aditya Raj Pandey, a native of Bihar currently residing in DLF Phase-III, works at a business process outsourcing (BPO) firm in Sector 48. He was allegedly assaulted by Uday Sansanwal and Nikhil Sansanwal inside a rented room in U Block following an argument while they were drinking.
According to the complaint, Pandey went to meet his friend Ansh Tyagi at a colleague's room around 2am. When Pandey arrived, Tyagi, the two accused, and a woman were already present and drinking. All of them are colleagues, an officer said.
Altercation Escalates
During the interaction, the accused allegedly made fun of Pandey's accent and way of talking and began abusing him. When he objected to the remarks, the confrontation turned violent. Pandey alleged that Uday first slapped him, following which both accused repeatedly punched and hit him on the face and head.
His friends intervened and separated them. Before leaving, the accused allegedly threatened to kill Pandey, the officer added. Police said Pandey later lost consciousness and was taken to a private hospital by his friends.
Medical Report and Legal Action
The medico-legal report noted a scalp injury along with swelling near both eyes. The report also mentioned the smell of alcohol from the victim's mouth, the FIR stated.
Following verification of the complaint and inquiry at the spot, DLF Phase-III police registered an FIR under sections 117(2) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 351(3) (criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (common intention) of BNS against the two accused.
