Josh Allen and Hailee Steinfeld have finally shared the full name of their daughter, nearly three months after welcoming their first child together. Steinfeld revealed the name in the June 19 edition of her Beau Society newsletter, where she addressed her daughter directly in a letter that offered a glimpse into her early months as a mother. Along with introducing Harper Haize Allen, the letter also revealed a detail that longtime followers of Steinfeld's career immediately recognized.
Hailee Steinfeld's Daughter's Middle Name Carries a Connection to a Major Career Milestone
Steinfeld opened the letter by addressing her daughter by her full name, Harper Haize Allen. "Dearest Harper. I'm in awe of you. You've been here for only a short while now, and somehow it feels as though you've always been ours," she wrote. The middle name quickly stood out. "Haize" closely resembles "HAIZ," the title of Steinfeld's debut EP, which Republic Records released in November 2015. While Steinfeld did not explain the inspiration behind the name, the similarity drew attention because the project marked the beginning of her music career.
The actress and singer continued reflecting on motherhood throughout the letter. "It's funny, I used to think motherhood was about raising a child. But now, I think being a mother is actually about allowing yourself to become someone new over and over again." She added that each day with Harper introduces her to a different version of herself. "A softer version. A stronger version. A more patient and present version. A version that loves everything and everyone."
Hailee Steinfeld Says Her Focus This Summer Is Being Fully Present with Harper
Steinfeld expanded on that theme during a recent Beau Society livestream, where she discussed how she plans to spend her first summer as a mother. "So I think how I'm approaching this summer is… the goal is to just be incredibly present and truly soak up every moment. Because life happens and life moves fast anyway," she said. The actress said parenthood has changed how she views time and now understands why parents often say childhood moves quickly. "And I now fully understand what every parent has said, like you blink and it all just goes by so fast. It is so very true, and so this summer my goal is to be completely present."
Allen and Steinfeld welcomed Harper in April after announcing their pregnancy in December 2025. While the couple kept many details private during the first months of parenthood, Steinfeld's latest letter offered their clearest glimpse yet into life with their daughter and revealed a name carrying a connection to a chapter of her career that began more than a decade ago.
