The incident has created panic among residents, many of whom fear further health complications if the source of contamination is not immediately addressed.

Unauthorised connection discovered during inspection

The society, which consists of 176 flats and houses more than 150 families, initiated an inspection of its water supply system after receiving repeated complaints. During the inspection, the managing committee allegedly discovered an unauthorised connection to the main water pipeline. According to the committee, the connection had been linked to a private storage tank containing borewell water.

Borewell water mixed with potable supply

The committee suspects that water from the tank mixed with the society’s potable water supply, resulting in contamination and causing illness among residents. A written complaint has been submitted to the Khadakpada Police Station and the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation’s water supply and health departments.

Water samples sent for lab testing

Water samples have been sent for laboratory testing, and residents have demanded a thorough investigation, strict action against those responsible and immediate restoration of a safe and clean drinking water supply.
