Brazilian star Neymar has been sidelined from the World Cup 2026 group stage as he focuses on recovering from his injuries. While Brazil defeated Haiti in Philadelphia yesterday, Neymar's recent social media update sparked outrage among fans.
Neymar's social media post draws criticism
A few hours ago, Neymar took to social media to post a picture of him watching the match between Brazil and Haiti. Although his exact location was not confirmed, millions trolled him for this gesture.
One fan wrote on X: "Neymar went strolling at the World Cup, he was moral support for the national team, a total crack. Home office, my compa." Another fan posted: "I just laugh at João Pedro. It was him who said that Neymar had to go no matter what. Nothing could be fairer than in his spot then."
A third fan commented: "They used to tell you here that Neymar moved you more, that Ney is a legend who motivated the players. They still think we're in 2016, I see Ney's little kids very quiet…" Another fan added: "Ney's career ended when he walked away from Messi, who was the only one who kept him away from the partying." A fifth fan noted: "Where the hell is he at? Looks like his house lol. He didn't even log minutes against Haiti, Ancelotti just took him for no reason…"
Neither the team nor Neymar has responded to the trolling yet, as the focus remains on his recovery.
When will Neymar return for Brazil?
The Brazilian Football Confederation has not commented on when Neymar will be able to return to the field for his nation. When he was injured last month, the Brazilian team confirmed that he would still be part of the World Cup as he would recover soon. However, that has not been the case so far. Neymar has not been able to practice and has missed the last two consecutive matches. As Brazil gears up to face Scotland next, all eyes remain on when Neymar will be able to bounce back on the field.
