JAMMU: Jammu-based Instagram influencer Ronisha Satti is currently undergoing medical treatment at a hospital after an alleged suicide attempt. This incident follows a series of videos she posted on social media, in which she accused her fiance, Prashant Sharma, of harassment and defamation.
Accusations and Distress
In the videos shared on her social media handle, Satti alleged that Sharma had been harassing her and her family, and spreading false claims against them. Expressing her despair, she stated, "I cannot live anymore. All the proofs one can take from my lawyer. I never thought of doing such things on social media. I am going to kill myself."
Family's Plea for Justice
Her mother, Reena Satti, has alleged that the family has been enduring continuous harassment and has urgently called for intervention from the authorities. She claimed, "We were followed, harassed, and when I pleaded for my daughter's safety, no one helped... If something happens to my daughter, who will be responsible? I want justice. If I don't get justice within five days, I will end my life. The responsibility will be on the JK police, the crime branch."
Counterclaims from Fiance's Lawyer
However, Prashant Sharma's lawyer, Advocate Rajat Gupta, has presented a contrasting version of events. He stated that the two had been in a relationship since September 2024, which was formalized with a ring ceremony in Jammu, attended by family members. According to Gupta, "From the start, Ronisha told my client, Prashant, she wanted to settle down. He agreed, and over time fulfilled her wishes with luxury shopping and expensive gifts worth several lakhs. When Prashant pressed for marriage, her family repeatedly delayed."
Gupta further alleged, "Later, they began abusing and threatening him, saying they never intended marriage. He was shocked to learn she was legally married before, with proceedings for dissolution pending. He filed a police complaint against Ronisha and her family, and the investigation concluded it was fraud, cheating, and conspiracy. A chargesheet was filed."
In response, Ronisha filed her own complaint, accusing Prashant of refusing marriage and attempting to defame her through posts and videos. Police investigated, but Prashant denied owning those social media pages. Meanwhile, Ronisha's brother allegedly tried to hack Prashant's social media accounts, leading to a cyber complaint. After the FIR, Prashant approached the Court, which stayed the investigation.
