Janhvi Kapoor, who is currently promoting her upcoming Telugu sports action drama ‘Peddi’ alongside Ram Charan, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, recently opened up about her views on different Indian languages. In a candid conversation with IANS, the ‘Param Sundari’ actress shared her thoughts on the Malayalam language, revealing that she does not foresee herself acting in a Malayalam film anytime soon.
Janhvi Kapoor on Malayalam Language
Janhvi Kapoor admitted that she finds Malayalam extremely difficult to speak and expressed immense respect for the language. “I don’t think I should attempt Malayalam again, because it's too difficult. For me it's such a beautiful, sweet language,” she said. Although she has not yet worked in a direct Malayalam film, she has a connection with Malayalam cinema through her 2022 film ‘Mili’, which was a Hindi remake of the Malayalam thriller ‘Helen’. More recently, in ‘Param Sundari’, she portrayed a character with strong Malayali roots.
Comfortable with Telugu and Tamil
During the same interaction, Janhvi Kapoor revealed that she is phonetically more familiar with Tamil and Telugu and expressed her desire to work in Kollywood. “But I think I am phonetically more familiar with Tamil and Telugu. I am really enjoying working in Telugu films and I would love to explore Tamil films,” she said. The ‘Devara’ actress has been receiving a warm response from Telugu audiences and is currently focusing on her Telugu projects.
About ‘Peddi’
In ‘Peddi’, Janhvi Kapoor plays the female lead, Achiyamma. The film is a sports action drama set in Andhra Pradesh, telling the story of a villager who unites people through sports. The movie also features Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, Ravi Kishan, and Boman Irani in key roles. ‘Peddi’ is scheduled for release on June 4.
