Nashik: The Upnagar police have arrested a 52-year-old doctor on charges of raping a 23-year-old woman when she visited his clinic for a routine check-up on Saturday. The arrest was made soon after the victim lodged a complaint on Sunday. Initially remanded for a day, the doctor was later sent to 14-day judicial custody on Monday.
Incident Details
According to the police, the complainant, who suffers from hemorrhoids, went to the doctor for a routine check-up at around 7:30 PM on Saturday. During the examination, the doctor allegedly engaged in inappropriate acts and used lewd language. The victim further stated that the doctor demanded sexual favors from her.
Legal Action
The woman approached the Upnagar police station in the early hours of Sunday and registered a complaint. The police subsequently filed a case against the doctor under relevant sections of the BNS, including charges of rape, outraging modesty, sexual harassment, and insulting the modesty of a woman through words, gestures, or acts. The police have confirmed that an investigation into the matter is ongoing.
