Parno Mittra is set to attend Marché du Film later this month as part of the Spirit of the Wildflower team. The 90-minute documentary, directed by Shrimoyee Chakraborty, will be showcased at the industry marketplace held alongside the Cannes Film Festival.
Documentary Highlights Tribal Siblings and Mahua Distillery
The documentary follows real-life tribal siblings Ankita and Veenu from Kathiwada, Madhya Pradesh, who run India's first legal mahua distillery. While Ankita dreams of taking the sacred brew global, Veenu hopes to transition and live as the man he truly is. The film foregrounds Adivasi communities and explores how colonial-era laws have long suppressed mahua, a resource with significant cultural and commercial potential.

Don’t forget to get me gifts.” Chakraborty added, “This film is ready for the world.”
