Patna Police Recover Stolen Jewellery, Arrest Maid and Four Jewellers

Patna: The Khagual police in Patna district on Thursday recovered gold and silver jewellery stolen from two houses and arrested a housemaid along with four jewellers who purchased the stolen items.

Complaint and Investigation

Danapur ASP Shivam Dhakad stated, “Ajay Kumar, a resident of Badi Khagual, filed a written complaint at Khagual police station alleging that jewellery worth lakhs was stolen from his house and from Pankaj Kumar’s house in Kothwan. The complainant expressed suspicion over Kavita Devi, who worked as a maid at his house.”

Taking the complaint seriously, the police acted swiftly and arrested the accused, Kavita Devi, wife of Anil Kumar. During interrogation, she confessed to stealing the jewellery and selling it at jewellery shops in Jairam Bazar, Moti Chowk, and other areas.

Recovery and Arrests

Following the lead, a special team led by Khagual SHO Ranjan Kumar was formed, and raids were conducted at several jewellery shops. During the raids, the police recovered the stolen jewellery from different shops and arrested the four jewellers involved in buying the stolen items.

The recovered jewellery includes gold and silver ornaments that were identified by the complainants. The arrested jewellers are being questioned to determine if they were part of a larger network dealing in stolen goods.

The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and further investigation is underway to trace any other stolen items.
