Priyanka Chopra was among several prominent Asian stars recognized at Gold House's fifth annual Gold Gala in Hollywood, where she received the prestigious Global Vanguard Honour for her significant influence on Asian Pacific culture. The ceremony, which also honored Charles Melton, Eileen Gu, Jet Li, Simu Liu, and Revathi Advaithi, gave Priyanka a meaningful platform to celebrate the women who shaped her, just days before Mother's Day.
Priyanka Chopra Credits Her Mother and Grandmother for Her Values
Taking the stage to accept her honor, Priyanka Chopra turned the spotlight away from herself and toward the women in her family. Drawing inspiration from fellow honoree Revathi Advaithi, she spoke about how her mother, Dr. Madhu Chopra, and her grandmother (nani) had always stressed the importance of education and building a skill set. She credited these values to generations of women before her.
According to a Moneycontrol report, in a standout moment from her speech, Priyanka told her mother, 'So thank you for being the foundation of who I am, for always being a student of life.'
On the red carpet, Priyanka also spoke candidly with Good Morning America about the most important lesson her mother ever taught her. 'My mother has taught me so many things from when I was young, as all mothers do, but standing up for yourself is something she taught me when I was very young, and I am trying to definitely teach my daughter to do that,' she said.
On her Mother's Day plans, she shared, 'I do not know how we are celebrating, but just being together, honestly, we do not have any special plans because it is about the moms being celebrated, but I have special plans for my mom and my mother-in-law and a lot of amazing mother figures in my life.'
Madhu Chopra's Sweet Mother's Day Wish
Priyanka's mother, Madhu Chopra, also joined the celebrations by sharing a video wishing everyone a Happy Mother's Day. In it, she said, 'Happy Mother's Day to all of you, from one daughter, from one mother to another mother.' She added warmly: 'May you bloom and grow with your children.'
