Ronda Rousey Reignites Feud with UFC Executive Over Viewership

Ronda Rousey has once again found herself at the center of attention after reacting to new viewership figures involving her comeback fight against Gina Carano. The former UFC women’s bantamweight champion took aim at UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell after reports suggested her recent fight generated bigger audience numbers than UFC Freedom 250. The event, promoted by Most Valuable Promotions and streamed on Netflix, attracted millions of viewers and reignited discussions about Rousey’s drawing power in combat sports.

Viewership Comparison Sparks Debate

The reaction came after a social media post compared the audience figures of the two events. UFC Freedom 250, which took place at the White House and featured Justin Gaethje’s title-winning performance against Ilia Topuria, reportedly became the most-watched live event in Paramount+ history. However, Rousey’s clash with Carano reportedly attracted even larger numbers, leading to renewed debate about the commercial value of the matchup and Rousey’s long-running disagreement with Campbell.

Ronda Rousey Revives Feud as Viewership Numbers Spark New Debate

Ronda Rousey responded strongly after the latest figures were shared online. In her latest tweet, she mocked Hunter Campbell and suggested that the reported audience numbers had proven her point. The comment quickly gained attention and added another chapter to their public dispute. According to reports, UFC Freedom 250 averaged 8.2 million viewers across the United States and Latin America. The event also reportedly attracted around 17 million unique viewers who watched at least part of the broadcast. Those numbers were considered a major success for both the UFC and Paramount+.

Despite that achievement, Rousey’s fight against Gina Carano reportedly performed even better. The Netflix event is said to have averaged 9.3 million viewers in the United States and 12.4 million globally. The main event reportedly peaked at nearly 17 million viewers worldwide. Rousey secured a quick victory with a first-round submission, creating one of the biggest MMA television audiences in recent years.

Long-Standing Dispute with Campbell

The viewership success holds extra importance because of Rousey’s previous criticism of Campbell. The UFC Hall of Famer has claimed in the past that the executive underestimated the appeal of a fight between her and Carano. According to Rousey, he believed the matchup would not have strong commercial value because both fighters had been away from top-level competition for years.

The event’s success also impressed longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan. Speaking on his podcast, Rogan explained that attracting casual fans is essential for the growth of combat sports. He praised Rousey’s ability to capture mainstream attention and said she has always known how to create interest beyond the core MMA audience.
