Scarlett Johansson has cast doubt on the very concept of work-life balance, suggesting that accepting its nonexistence might be the first step toward achieving a sense of equilibrium. While many 9-to-5 workers strive to find that elusive balance, the 41-year-old actress emphasized that no one can do everything at once. As one of the highest-paid stars in the world, she seeks peace by asking herself if a situation is good enough.
Scarlett Johansson Thinks Work-Life Balance Does Not Exist
During a candid interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Johansson was asked whether she believes in work-life balance. When questioned if she had ever tried to achieve it, the 'Lucy' actor claimed that there will always be something 'deficit' at home or at work. 'I've learned to be more kind to myself in that way. You can't do all of these things all the time,' the Hollywood star said, adding, 'There's just like, Is it good enough?'
Being one of the most successful actors in the entertainment industry, Johansson has a net worth of USD 165 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Apart from being an actor and a skincare mogul, Johansson plays another significant role in her life: being a mother. She shares a daughter, Rose Dorothy Dauriac, with her ex-husband, and a son, Cosmo Jost, with her husband and renowned comedian Colin Jost.
Expressing her view as a parent, Johansson shared that her definition of success changed after balancing a family. For her, doing what is right even if it does not make her the most popular is key, according to Fortune. 'Somebody once told me, If you're successful as a parent like 75% of the time, that's good—if you're doing 75% of it right, then you're winning, which is probably true,' she said.
