Production on the upcoming thriller 'Tyrant', featuring Demi Moore and Charlize Theron in leading roles, was temporarily disrupted following a shooting incident near the film's sets in Los Angeles.
According to TMZ, the film's cast and crew members were sent home as a precaution after a shooting occurred during a FIFA World Cup watch party. One person was shot, and a suspect was subsequently arrested. The incident took place during a large gathering in Koreatown, where fans had assembled to watch Mexico take on South Korea.
A source close to the production informed the portal that while the Los Angeles Police Department did not order an evacuation of the sets, the decision to halt work and send the team home was made by the production team as a 'precautionary measure'. The watch party was being held near the sets of the film, which also stars Julia Garner and Hudson Williams.
The report added that several of the film's high-profile stars were among those affected by the shutdown. The decision ultimately proved timely, as police reportedly issued a citywide tactical alert, allowing additional officers to be deployed to Koreatown to assist with crowd control efforts. The match saw Mexico secure a 1-0 victory over South Korea.
