Siddharth Nigam, widely recognized for his roles in television shows and films, recently shared insights into his personal and professional journey. In a candid conversation on Yuvaa's YouTube channel, the actor reflected on the challenges his mother faced as a single parent and how his entry into acting transformed their lives.
Mother's Struggles as a Single Parent
Nigam recalled that after his father's death, his mother started a small beauty parlour to support the family. She worked tirelessly for 12 to 13 hours daily, offering services such as eyebrow threading for just Rs 10 and facials at minimal rates. Despite her dedication, she could only earn between Rs 8,000 and Rs 10,000 per month. The actor emphasized the immense difficulty his mother endured as a single woman striving to make ends meet.
First Acting Opportunity
Nigam's life took a turn when he landed his first advertisement at the age of 10. He was offered Rs 50,000 for the ad, which was a significant amount for his family. Soon after, he received an opportunity to appear in the film Dhoom 3. The initial offer was Rs 15 lakh, a sum that left him and his mother in shock. Nigam described how they kicked each other under the table in disbelief, realizing that this amount was more than what his mother could earn in five years.
Sacrifices and New Beginnings
To pursue the film, Nigam's mother had to quit her beauty parlour and accompany him to Chicago for the shoot. She left behind her business without hesitation, recognizing that acting was a path worth pursuing. Nigam concluded by expressing that the Rs 15 lakh payment was a turning point, affirming their decision to focus on his acting career.
