Fresh social media speculation has ignited rumours that Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal will finally tie the knot on December 7. This comes after their original wedding ceremony in Sangli was abruptly called off on the morning of November 23 due to a sudden medical emergency involving Mandhana's father.
Health Emergencies Lead to Postponement
The planned celebrations came to a sudden halt when Smriti Mandhana's father fell seriously ill. He was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. The stress of the situation also took a severe toll on the groom-to-be, Palash Muchhal. His mother, Amita Muchhal, revealed that he later required hospital admission himself. She stated that extreme stress left him unwell, needing IV support and several medical tests.
According to Amita, it was actually Palash's decision to postpone the wedding after Smriti's mother initially fell ill. She explained that Palash shares an exceptionally close bond with Smriti's father, whom he calls 'uncle'. "Palash is emotionally attached to his 'uncle' a lot. In fact, they are closer than Palash and Smriti," she said. "So, when he fell ill, Palash decided, even before Smriti did, that the wedding should not take place until he fully recovers."
Rumours, Gossip, and Family Clarifications
The unexpected postponement opened the floodgates for online gossip. The situation intensified when alleged chat screenshots, purportedly involving Palash and another woman, began circulating, sparking infidelity theories. Fans added fuel to the fire by noticing that Smriti Mandhana had removed her engagement posts from social media.
Amidst this chaos, the new rumour of a December 7 wedding in Sangli has left many fans confused and some disappointed. Reactions on social media range from suspicion to frustration. One user questioned if the entire cheating controversy was a publicity stunt, while another expressed annoyance at the lack of official clarification from Smriti or her family.
However, the Mandhana family has firmly denied these new date rumours. Smriti's brother, Shravan Mandhana, told Hindustan Times that he has no knowledge of any rescheduled date. "I have no idea about these rumours. As of now, it (the wedding) is still postponed," he stated clearly.
The Path Forward for the Couple
Palash Muchhal's mother, Amita, provided an update on the couple's current state and future plans. She confirmed that both Smriti and Palash are in emotional pain following the traumatic health scares. Her focus is on their recovery. "Palash dreamt of coming home with his bride. I had even planned a special welcome. Everything will be fine; shaadi bohot jaldi hogi (the wedding will happen soon)," she expressed hopefully.
She clarified that the families intend to restart the wedding celebrations once both Smriti's father and Palash have recovered from the emotional stress and health issues. It is worth noting that after extensive health checks, doctors found no abnormalities in Smriti's father's health, and he has returned home. Despite this positive development, the wedding remains officially postponed, with no new date announced by the families directly.
