Cinematographer Sudeep Chatterjee, best known for his work in films such as Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat and Gangubai Kathiawadi, recently watched the Bengali film Phool Pishi O Edward in Hyderabad, where work had taken him. With some time to spare, he decided to catch a Bengali film playing at a local theatre — and found himself engrossed in the movie.
Chatterjee's Appreciation for the Film
"I believe that cinema has to engage the audience and entertain them. I also believe that cinema has the power to influence the audience with ideas, thoughts and consciousness. Phool Pishi O Edward does this beautifully, managing to tell a story of empowerment, a story of collective consciousness to rise against the evil… and all of this brewing inside a very entertaining mystery thriller," said Chatterjee.
Reaching Out to the Team
Deeply impressed by the film, Chatterjee reached out to the team to share his appreciation. He particularly admired the way the film weaves together an engaging mystery with themes of empowerment, social awareness and collective resistance, while never losing sight of its entertainment value.
Significant Endorsement
His words serve as a significant endorsement for a film that has been winning audiences over with its distinctly Bengali flavour and compelling whodunit narrative. The film continues to garner praise for its unique storytelling and cultural richness.
