The mortal remains of Chandranath Rath, personal assistant of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Suvendu Adhikari, were brought from a hospital in Madhyamgram to his residence after he was shot dead in West Bengal. Adhikari alleged that Rath was targeted because of his association with him and claimed a political motive linked to his earlier victory over Mamata Banerjee in Bhabanipur.
