This incident occurred shortly after Khan was arrested near the India-Nepal border in north Bengal in connection with an alleged extortion case, according to officials.

The mob reportedly smashed windowpanes and damaged furniture in several rooms of Khan's office. Police have confirmed that an investigation has been initiated into the incident. The vandalism appears to be a direct reaction to Khan's arrest and the discovery of several packets of relief materials inside the office.
