A protest march organised by the Uttar Pradesh BJP unit, named 'Mahila Aakrosh Mashaal March', took place in Lucknow to highlight issues concerning women's dignity, safety, and empowerment. The march commenced from Lok Bhavan and proceeded to Atal Chowk, where participants raised slogans against opposition parties, particularly targeting the Samajwadi Party and the Indian National Congress, accusing them of opposing the women's reservation bill.
Key Party Functionaries Lead the March
Senior BJP functionaries, including state president Pankaj Chaudhary and state general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh, were present at the event. They were joined by cabinet minister Baby Rani Maurya, state ministers Pratibha Shukla and Rajni Tewari, state women commission vice-chairperson Aparna Yadav, Lucknow mayor Sushma Kharkwal, and several other party functionaries and women activists. Carrying placards and banners, the participants raised slogans criticising the opposition and asserting women's rights.
Chaudhary Highlights Government Schemes
Addressing the gathering, Chaudhary stated that the BJP has consistently prioritised women's empowerment, safety, and dignity. He criticised opposition parties, alleging that despite running the government for years, they failed to take meaningful steps for women's empowerment. Chaudhary added that schemes such as Ujjwala Yojana, Matritva Vandana Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and Mission Shakti reflect the government's commitment to making women self-reliant and empowered.
The march concluded with women BJP supporters asserting that they would continue to oppose what they described as anti-women forces and support policies aimed at safeguarding their rights and dignity. The event underscored the party's focus on women's issues ahead of upcoming elections, with participants vowing to spread awareness about the government's initiatives for women.
