Upendra Chauhan has recently been seen in two vastly different roles in Satrangi: Badle Ka Khel and System, giving audiences a glimpse of his range as an actor. While Satrangi featured him as Pratap Singh, a man driven by family ties and personal values, System saw him step into the shoes of Inspector Ravi Rathi, a sharp and manipulative police officer navigating a complicated personal life.
Impact of the Characters
Reflecting on the impact these characters had on him, Upendra believes both roles deepened his understanding of people and emotions. “Playing these characters changed me in many ways. Every role teaches you something new, but these two characters were completely opposite from each other, which made the experience even more special for me.”
Pratap Singh in Satrangi
Discussing Pratap Singh from Satrangi, he shares, “Pratap is very family-oriented. Because of his background and upbringing, he slowly becomes part of the antagonist group, but above everything else, he chooses his family and stands by them. He is emotional and carries a lot of inner conflict, which made him very interesting for me to play.”
Inspector Ravi Rathi in System
The experience of portraying Inspector Ravi Rathi in System, currently streaming on OTT, offered a very different challenge. He says, “Rathi is a very manipulative person and very different from Pratap. He is an inspector whose personal life changes him emotionally. His extra-marital affair becomes one of the biggest reasons behind his actions. Even though his love is genuine, it gets used against him. Playing Rathi helped me explore a darker and more layered side as an actor.”
Audience Response and Future Aspirations
The response to both performances has reinforced his desire to keep pushing himself as a performer. He shares, “The love and appreciation from the audience always motivate me to work harder. It feels good when people connect with your work and your character. That encourages me to take on different kinds of roles and keep challenging myself as an actor.”
