Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has officially announced '1920: Cold Winter', the latest installment in one of Hindi cinema's most successful horror franchises. The new film marks another collaboration between Bhatt and producer Anand Pandit, as they plan to take the long-running supernatural saga in a darker and more ambitious direction. The announcement comes as 'Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past' continues its theatrical run. Encouraged by audience interest in horror films, the makers have shifted their focus to the next chapter of the 1920 universe.
Director Promises a Fresh and Unsettling Story
Speaking about the project, Vikram Bhatt shared his excitement about returning to a franchise that has remained popular for years. He emphasized that the new film will preserve the essence of the series while introducing a different kind of horror experience. “The response to our recent release has reaffirmed that audiences continue to enjoy well-crafted horror stories when they are backed by novel concepts and effective visual effects. With ‘1920: Cold Winter’, we want to build on the legacy of a franchise that has remained close to audiences for years while introducing a fresh and unsettling new chapter.” Over the past two decades, Vikram Bhatt has established himself as a leading name in the horror genre, with films such as '1920', 'Raaz', 'Shaapit', 'Haunted-3D', 'Raaz 3D', and 'Raaz Reboot' shaping modern Hindi horror cinema and building a loyal fan base.
First Promotional Material Sparks Curiosity
The first promotional material for '1920: Cold Winter' has already sparked curiosity among horror enthusiasts. The film arrives with the tagline 'Beware the innocent.' Another promotional line, 'They hide the darkest evil,' suggests that the story may revolve around deceptive appearances and hidden supernatural dangers. While plot details remain under wraps, the marketing campaign indicates that the film will explore a chilling new layer within the franchise's mythology.
Vikram Bhatt Addresses AI Debate
Meanwhile, Vikram Bhatt recently responded to discussions surrounding the visual effects used in 'Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past'. Addressing claims that certain visuals were AI-generated, he told News 18: Adding humour to the debate, he remarked: “So what if my film has AI? Either you want to see the film or you don’t. Some people said yeh bhoot toh AI hai. Arrey, main kahaan se real bhoot laau? Bhoot toh AI, special effects, CGI ya prosthetics se hi bana hoga na. I can’t get a real ghost and ask it to turn up for the shoot at nine in the morning.” With '1920: Cold Winter', Vikram Bhatt and Anand Pandit are preparing to deliver another frightening journey.
